- Abstract
A theoretical and experimental study of the output signal of a vibration-induction transducer (VIT) formed when it is exposed to the normal component of the stray magnetic field strength over a defect has been carried out. The theoretical study is based on representing the VIT signal in the form of a trigonometric series limited to the first five harmonics. The well-known regularities of the distribution of over the defective area were used as the initial information for constructing a mathematical model. On the basis of the obtained mathematical model, the regularities of the change in the harmonic composition of the VIT signal during its movement in the defect area with different vibration amplitude and frequency were revealed. The results of theoretical research are confirmed experimentally. Additional possibilities of this method of magnetic flaw detection in comparison with the known ones are shown.
