- Abstract
The article analyzes data from the School-Associated Violent Death (SAVD) study which indicated a decline in the rates of student homicides in the U.S. between July 1992 and June 2006. The study was conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice. It found that cases of student homicide occurred on the campus of a functioning public or private elementary or secondary school or while the victim was attending or traveling to or from an official school-sponsored event.
