- Abstract
The proposal for this publication, that came from a communication made at an event, aimed at a brief review of the years 1930-1938, looking forward to adding new possibilities to the period known as the "Vargas Era" in Brazilian History. It is known that the world, after the initial years of the 20th century, experienced a distress with the classical libertarian policies of "Belle Époque", foreseen towards the creation of new institutions and centralizing policies; totalizing; nationalist and, above all, social and populist. In Brazilian territory - represented by Getúlio Vargas. The article intends to uncover the Brazilian case and revisit other political alternatives for the country, distinct from the "Varguismo", especially those at the libertarian spectrum. Therefore, we considered the example of the politician Armando de Sales Oliveira, from São Paulo, and his participation, both in local and national politics, opposed to President Getúlio Vargas, between the years 1930-1938, while governor of the state of São Paulo and later in campaign in the presidential elections, interrupted by a coup d'état in 1937.
