- Abstract
Nitrifying microbial preparations can convert ammonia into nitrite and then into nitrate through the process of ammonia oxidation and nitrite oxidation, which has important application value in water purification of aquaculture systems.Studying the effects of physical and chemical factors on the ammonia oxidizing microorganisms and nitrite oxidizing bacteria flora during the cultivation process will help improve the activity of the inoculants and shorten the cultivation period. This study comparatively analyzed the effects of pyruvate on the ammonia oxidation and nitrite oxidation processes of seawater and freshwater nitrifying microorganisms. The results showed that sodium pyruvate significantly increased the ammonia oxidation activity of seawater-type nitrifying microbial preparations at 0~1.0 g/L, and showed an inhibitory effect at1.5~2.5 g/L, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen in 1.0 g/L and 2.5 g/L at 48 h was 149% and 50% of the control group, respectively. And it significantly increased the ammonia oxidation activity of freshwater nitrifying microbial preparations at0~1.5 g/L, and showed an inhibitory effect at 2.0~2.5 g/L, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen in 1.5 g/L and 2.5 g/L at 48 h was 216% and 60% of the control group, respectively. The nitrite oxidation activity of sodium pyruvate at 0~2.5 g/L on both seawater and freshwater nitrifying microbial preparations showed inhibitory effects and increased with the increase of concentration.
