- Abstract
The article discusses the marketing of milk. The process from dairy farms to production and distribution facilities to supermarkets and sales outlets is critically evaluated. The author focuses on inefficiencies in the delivery cycle and offers potential solutions for improvement. Possible methods for increasing delivery density are presented. They include less frequent deliveries, dealer consolidation, pooling of deliveries, customer exchange and regulated monopoly. The feasibility of route and mileage reductions are discussed.
