- Abstract
Objective. To analyze the research production on work motivation, its evolution, and trends between the period spanning from 2000 to 2021. Methodology. Different bibliometric indicators were analyzed by means of various tools such as RStudio Cloud and Tree of Science. A total of 493 papers from the Scopus database were utilized for this analysis. Results. The main authors, countries of origin, publications per year, and their respective networks of co-occurrence, co-citations, and collaboration are presented. The prevailing publication trends on the topic of work motivation encompass models of work motivation, self-determination theory, and work motivation in public service. Conclusions. Over the past three years, there has been a notable surge of 72.05 % in scientific output pertaining to the research subject matter. Notably, self-determination theory remains dominant in the field of work motivation research.
