- Abstract
The article discusses the role of pulsating water lavage in dental plaque control. Plaque being the cause of periodontal diseases, efforts in periodontics have focused on the chemical, antibiotic and mechanical methods of plaque control, amongst which toothbrush is the most universally used and effective mechanical method. But its effectiveness is limited to the regions where it can reach and at such the importance of floss like water jets become important. The article goes on to discusses the effects of pulsating water jet devices in maxillofacial wounds, periodontal tissues and bacteremia.
