- Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of adisintegrin and metalloproteinase 17 (ADAM17) in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and its clinicopathological significance. Methods: The expression of ADAM17 in normal epithelium, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical squamous cell carcinoma was respectively detected by Western Blot immunoblotting, Immunohistochemical (SP) method, And the relationship between the expression of ADAM17 and the clinical stage of cervical cancer and lymph node metastasis was analyzed. Results: There was no obvious ADAM17 expression in normal cervical epithelium tissues, and a few expression in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia with light yellow staining in the cytoplasm, and abundant ADAM17 expression in cervical squamous cell carcinoma with strong brown dying in the cytoplasm. The positive expression rate of ADAM17 in each group were significantly different (P<0.05), the expression of ADAM17 was gradually increased with the severity of clinical stage. The positive rate of ADAM17 expression was significantly higher in cervical squamous cell carcinoma with lymph node metastasis than those without lymph node metastasis, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: ADAM17 is highly expressed in cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and its positive expression is closely associated with clinical staging and lymph node metastasis, indicating thatADAM17 can be used as a marker of clinical diagnosis and prognosis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
