- Abstract
The article discusses the artemisinin-based combination therapies for malaria in East Africa. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of artemisinin-based combination to traditional antimalarial therapies such as amodiaquine, chloroquine, and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine. Based on WHO report, 90 percent of global malaria comes from African region. Furthermore, a new National Health Policy document will be develop to provide direction for the health sector in the next 10 years.
