- Abstract
A study published in BJU International evaluated the use of prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) in addition to multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) and biopsies to select patients for hemi-ablative focal therapy (FT) for prostate cancer. The study found that adding PSMA-PET to mpMRI and biopsies improved the accuracy of selecting patients for FT. However, the authors expressed concerns about the diagnostic accuracy of PSMA-PET and the potential for overdiagnosis. They suggested that further research is needed and emphasized the importance of improving the diagnostic accuracy of mpMRI.
