- Abstract
Over the months after the publication of the 2017 revisions to the McDonald criteria for the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis,[1] we have read articles and listened to specialists in different conferences referring to the presence of oligoclonal bands (OBs) as equivalent to dissemination in time (DIT). In this sense, our proposal has a more practical rationale: patients with typical clinical presentations, typical lesions fulfilling DIS and with alternative diagnoses reasonably ruled out most probably have multiple sclerosis, and therefore, DIT is not needed to confirm the diagnosis. Diagnosis of multiple sclerosis: 2017 revisions of the McDonald criteria.
