- Abstract
The article reports on study which was conducted to determine whether a universal check of mental health of 3-years olds would prevent or create childhood mental problems. The results show that observations of 3-year-old behaviour do have some predictive value. They predict adolescent depression and a range of modifiable factors predict recovery from elevated childhood problems, including higher levels of social competence, better parent and peer elations.
