- Abstract
Corruption, in any of its manifestations, represents an unsustainable burden on any society, especially those that are permeated by great social inequalities. It slows down the cycles of poverty, in the same way that it jeopardizes the consolidation and advancement of democracy. Corruption is now a central issue for all those concerned with the fate of Western democracies. The redemocratization of the country made visible facts that were not previously known to public opinion, but did not prevent the phenomenon from repeating itself. The objective of this article is to offer a set of reflections and studies that broaden the understanding of the phenomenon and the perception of society about corruption in Brazil and in the worl.
