- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined whether similarities exist between mountain ultra-marathon (MUM) runners and intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Topics include the concept of injury-induced immunosupression, observation on the homogeneous fall in monocyte human leukocyte antigen-DR (mHLA-DR) expression that accompanies inflammatory response, and immunological parameters obtained in healthy MUM finishers.
