- Abstract
The article explores a study by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder which offers standard criteria for the classification of mental disorders. Topics include the questionable validity, reliability, and utility of psychiatric diagnoses; depression as the common cause of symptoms such as sadness, insomnia, and concentration problems; and adopting a network approach which offered an alternative way of thinking about mental health problems and treating depressive symptoms.
