- Title
Triple-Modality Therapy for a Woman With Locally Advanced Thoracic Esophageal Adenocarcinoma, Part 2.
- Authors
Schefter, Tracey E.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the views of several researchers on triple-modality therapy for a woman with locally advanced thoracic esophageal adenocarcinoma. There is conflicting evidence in the literature on the role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Due to the high rate of distant failure seen in esophageal carcinoma, much work has been done to investigate the role of systemic therapy. The most common regimen is a combination of cisplatin and fluorouracil. Response rates with these two agents range from 45% to 70%.
