- Abstract
The article discusses the effects of diseases on primates close to humans at Gombe National Park, Tanzania. The study states that human presence aimed for research and tourism thus shields chimpanzees from illegal hunting, however, endangers them due to the transmitted viruses of human origin. It further suggests that proper measures should be followed to decrease risks in the transmission of inter-species diseases to the deteriorating population of chimpanzees.
