- Abstract
The article cites a study on a genetic switch that ensures a tight and tunable control of gene expression by coupling RNAi to an inducible system that uses repressor proteins. Researchers engineered a synthetic gene network implicating the bacterial LacI and TetR transcriptional repressors and an RNAi component coding for a short-hairpin RNA. The study showed that the switch can completely suppress the expression of the highly toxic α-chain of diphtheria toxin and of the cre recombinase.
