- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of the NSF/ANSI Standard 61 to establish minimum requirements for the control of potential adverse human health effects from products that contact drinking water in the U.S. The NSF Standard has been developed by NSF International Inc.,which was accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The aim of the Section 9 of NSF 61 is to protect the public from harmful levels of contaminants derived from plumbing devices installed in last 1-liter demarcation of water volume in plumbing systems. Meanwhile, plumbing components covered in Section 9 are those that might contact the water collected during stagnation. Moreover, any leaching of lead or copper from endpoint devices significantly affects compliance with these regulations.
