- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the hypothesis that persons with type 1 diabetes with higher serum levels of carboxymethyl lysine (CML) and soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products (sRAGE) are at increased risk of developing incident diabetic nephropathy (DN). Topics covered include the relationship of CML and sRAGE to mortality, the association of serum CML to the incidence of DN, and the relationship of sRAGE to incident DN.
