Nonculture Diagnostic Tests for Enteric Diseases.
- Authors
Jones, Timothy F.; Gerner-Smidt, Peter
- Abstract
The authors comment on two studies published in this issue of the journal which addressed the changing laboratory practices for the testing of stool specimens. According to the authors, both studies emphasized a need to adapt policies and practices to keep up with the evolving clinical laboratory world. They point out that outbreak detection will be more difficult if clinical laboratories diagnose Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC).
