- Abstract
The article presents a study on the use of ion exchange (IEX) to remove natural organic matter (NOM) and improve drinking water quality. The study evaluates and compares the water quality and costs of using IEX in different instances such as prior to coagulation, prior to ozonation, and after slow sand filtration. Result shows that NOM removal using IEX is more efficient prior to ozonation and after slow sand filtration. Moreover, operational costs were highest on IEX prior to coagulation.
