Low-spec bullet-proof vests from cement.
- Abstract
The article reports on the move by the University of Leeds' School of Civil Engineering in Leeds, England to use cement in making bullet-proof vests. Lead researcher Philip Purnell believes that cement can become a cheap alternative to make bullet-proof vests which are usually made from alumina. Purnell has initiated a project called Cementing the Future, that would enhance the use of cement application that includes in medicine and refrigeration.
