- Title
Failure to recognize prosthetic valve endocarditis.
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a failure to recognize prosthetic valve endocarditisv (PVE) for 12 months prior to patient's death. The patient was a retired miner who, on 27 June 2003, underwent surgery at hospital A to perform a coronary artery bypass and to replace his aortic valve with a biological mitroflow valve. As a result of the failure to diagnose PVE, no steps were undertaken to perform surgery to replace the patient's prosthetic valve.
