- Abstract
The article discusses the history, critical reception and publication of the book "Tianbu zhenyuan (天 步 眞 原, or True Principles of the Pacing of the Heavens)," by Nikolaus Smogulecki (Mu Nige, or 穆 尼 閣) and Xue Fengzuo. The role that the book played in the international cooperation in astronomy between Europe and China during the early modern period, including in regard to calendrical astronomy, is discussed.
