- Authors

- Abstract
In November 1736, three ships left Cadiz towards the Río de la Plata under the command of Don Nicolás Geraldín. In addition to the crew, they were carrying soldiers to the garrison of Buenos Aires. Arriving at the island of Santa Catalina, in southern Brazil, some men rebelled because they were not paid. The spark that ignited the conflict was the order of the commander to eat cassava flour, taken from the Portuguese ships captured during the travel. From the analysis of this mutiny we will try to understand how was the daily life of soldiers and sailors from that time.
