- Abstract
The article discusses what the author refers to as the specter of downward mobility in retirement for various middle-income and higher-income workers in America, and it provides advice for bridging a gap in retirement security between Black and White people in the U.S. The economic fears that are associated with old age are addressed, along with American Social Security, employer-sponsored pensions, and personal assets. Retirement savings and employment during retirement are assessed.
