A genomic approach to alcoholism.
- Authors
COSTAS, JAVIER
- Abstract
The author reflects on the use of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) in the analysis of alcoholism or alcohol dependence. He says that aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) or the antidiuretic hormone (ADH) family have been confirmed by GWAS in alcohol dependence. He discusses topics including the association of schizophrenia with alcohol dependence, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), and genetic vulnerability.
