- Abstract
School-family cooperation is of vital importance in revealing the interests and abilities of children and in ensuring their cognitive and social development. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the perception and parental involvement with children in primary and secondary schools in their children’s education. The research was carried out on the parents of 35 schools, 21 of which are primary schools and 14 are secondary schools, in the Aliağa district of İzmir province in the 2018-2019 academic year. Data was collected using the “Parental Involvement Scale” adapted for this study. Data analysis was performed on data obtained from 2684 parents who participated in the study. Results achieved in the study are as follows; It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the perceptions of parents regarding their participation in the educational process at school, in terms of gender, education level, income level, and the school and class levels of their children across the scale and in their dimensions. In this context, suggestions have been made in order to improve the parental involvement in the educational process of the school.
