- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates extracellular elastase, acid proteinase and phospholipase activities as putative factors in clinical isolates of Aspegillus species including Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, and Aspergillus niger. It also examines the correlation of the existence of the enzymes and development of invasive aspergillosis. Several enzymatic activities were tested on the solid media including the elastase, acid proteinase and phospholipase activities added with the corresponding substrates. It states that Aspergillus species may be capable in the invasion of the host tissues. It concludes that the degree of the activities of elastase, acid proteinase and phospholipase in clinical Asperggillus strains tend to show species- and strain-based variations.
