- Abstract
Two new resveratrol =5E24hydroxyphenylethenylbenzene1,3diol derivatives, vateriaphenols D 1 and E 2, were isolated from the leaves of Vateria indicaDipterocarpaceae, together with six known resveratrol oligomers 3–8, a isocoumarin bergenin, 9, and a benzophenone 10. The structures of the isolates were established on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including a detailed NMR spectroscopic investigation. Compound 1is composed of three resveratrol units and a piceatannol =5E23,4dihydroxyphenylethenylbenzene1,3diol unit, and is the first instance of a heterogeneous coupled stilbene tetramer in dipterocarpaceaeous plants. Compound 2bears a rare 2,3dihydrobenzofuran2ol skeleton in the framework.
