The article discusses the character of Anthony in the play "Anthony and Cleopatra," by William Shakespeare. Emphasis is given to the literary source of Plutarch and the relationship between Anthony and the Roman gods Bacchus and Hercules. Other topics include consumption of wine, metonymy, and urination.
