- Title
Putting DNA to the test.
- Abstract
The article discusses the lack of regulations of genetic-testing worldwide. The British Human Genetics Commission (HGC) issued a set of principles that will help guide customers and promote high standards and consistency among personal-genomics providers. The HGC urges the provision of genetic counseling before and after testing for serious hereditary diseases. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, on the other hand, recruited bioethicist Alta Charo that will advise commissioner Peggy Hamburg on a comprehensive approach in the regulation of these tests.
