- Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Gundelia tournefortii L. plant extracts on hematological parameters in high fat diet-induced rats. For this purpose, a total of 24 Wistar-albino male rats with a live weight of 150-200 gr and 4 rats in each group were formed. Groups ''Normal Control (NK)'', ''Obese Control (OK)'', ''Obese + Gundelia tournefortii (200mg / kg) (OG1)'' and ''Obese + Gundelia tournefortii (400mg / kg) (OG2)''. It was created to be. After 12 weeks of application, the rats were sacrificed and blood samples were taken. Total leukocyte (WBC), Erythrocyte (RBC), Hemoglobin (HGB), Hematocrit (HCT), Mean Corpuscular Volumer (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Platelets (PLT), Platelet Distribution Width (PDW), Platelet Large Cell Ratio (PLCR), Platelet Crit (PCT), Erythrocyte Distribution Width (RDW) and Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) were measured. According to the results of the analysis; for PDW, HCT and WBC parameter values, a statistically significant difference was determined in both OG1 and OG2 groups compared to the OK group. For PLCR and MPV parameter values, a statistically significant difference was found in OG1 group when compared to the OK group. Although WBC, RBC, HGB, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, PLT, PCT, and RDW parameters were similar in both NK and OK groups, this change was not statistically significant. As a result; It can be said that Gundelia tournefortii plant extracts can be effective against the negative effects of hematological parameters in hypercholesterolemic conditions in rats with obesity with highfat diet.
