The art of evaluating the impact of medical science.
- Authors
Allen, Liz
- Abstract
The author discusses medical research and scrutiny placed upon it to assess its worth. She notes the extent of public funding of research in Great Britain and assessment of its value by various national systems. However, she believes that there is not a scientific way or available formulae to make such judgments. She notes the complexities of biomedical research that need to be understood and the need for pragmatism in judging research value.
