- Abstract
This article introduces a special issue of Oceanography that celebrates the accomplishments of the GEOTRACES program in chemical oceanography. The program, which involves scientists from 35 countries, has been studying the marine biogeochemical cycles of trace elements and isotopes for 20 years. The article highlights the program's oceanographic cruises and efforts to ensure data comparability. It emphasizes the importance of this research in understanding the oceans and acknowledges the contributions of scientists and institutions involved in the program.
