- Abstract
We report on a 66-year old man with rheumatoid a rth ritis treated with azathioprine and prednisolone, who was admitted to our hospital with fever, chills, dyspnea and myalgia. All criteria of SIRS were met but blood tests, imaging studies inch echocardiography showed no inflammation or infectious focus. Although empirical an tibiotic treatment lead to complete recovery, initially observed clinical findings reoccurred after starting Azathioprine again. This led us to the diagnosis of a hypersensitivity reaction due to Azathioprine with SIRS.
