- Authors
Ferreyro, Bruno L.; De Jong, Audrey; Grieco, Domenico Luca
- Abstract
This article provides information on the use of facemask noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in various clinical settings. NIV allows for positive airway pressure without the need for intubation, providing respiratory support while avoiding the negative effects of invasive mechanical ventilation. The article discusses the set-up and ventilatory settings for facemask NIV, as well as its indications and monitoring. It also highlights the limitations and contraindications of this technique. The information presented in the article is based on research and clinical experience.
