- Abstract
PURPOSE: To evaluate the feasibility and predictability of early loading of dental implants supporting mandibular fixed full-arch prostheses. METHODS: 94 ITI SLA implants were inserted in 14 edentulous mandibles. The implant-borne fixed prostheses were applied 6 weeks postoperatively. Panoramic radiographs were taken immediately after implant placement, at 4-week post-surgery and 1 year post-treatment to evaluate the alveolar bone at the implant sites. Resonance frequency analysis was clone at implant placement and 4-week post-surgery. RESULTS: No implant failed within the 12 months representing one-year survival rate of 100%. Success rate for prostheses was 100%. No significant bone loss was observed according to the panoramic radiographs with the bone level above the first thread. The resonance frequency analysis gave the ISQ (implant stability quotient) value of 69.54±4.29 and 63.14±5.57 at the 2 time points respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Early loading of ITI SLA implant supporting mandibular fixed prostheses is predictable.
