- Title
THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIZATIONAL VARIABLES IN THE COMPUTERIZATION OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
- Authors
HEBDEN, J. E.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of organizational variables when upgrading management information systems to computers. It states that difficulties in developing a management information system in an electronic data processing (EDP) department can be summarized in terms of organizational location. It mentions that organizational location is circular as it is a product of patterns of management behavior and organizational structure. It comments on ways management can resist implementing an EDP department by controlling the size of the EDP by senior management, and maintaining distance at the level of implementation by middle management.
