- Abstract
This article discusses a study on severe lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) caused by human rhinovirus (HRV) in young children. The study analyzed medical records of children hospitalized for HRV LRTIs from 2016 to 2020 in Seoul, Korea. The findings show that HRV can cause severe LRTI in both previously healthy children and those with comorbidities, with chronic lung diseases being the most common underlying condition. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the potential for worsening clinical courses in children hospitalized with HRV LRTIs.
