- Abstract
While younger age groups tend to benefit more from technological devices, older groups can learn to use them effectively and acquire digital competencies. This study explores the impact of different learning approaches on the degree of competence older people can acquire with digital technologies. Specifically, we examine how intergenerational and family learning can influence seniors' attitudes towards technology and promote better use of digital devices. The main finding is that the appropriation of digital technologies by older persons depends on the configuration of a number of factors. This configuration reveals that there is not just one learning model to effectively acquire digital competencies, and that relational and motivational factors in particular must be considered in order to choose the most appropriate one.
