- Abstract
The article focuses on the hormonal profile of acne vulgaris (AV). Acne vulgaris is not an endocrine disorder, but androgen production is essential for it because the sebaceous follicle is androgen-dependent. Here the authors comment on the case of a patient who presented with AV with various hormonal changes that are not classical in the description. According to some findings hormones related to AV can be released from several sources, which can be endocrine glands, such as ovaries, adrenals, the anterior pituitary gland, or other tissues, such as the epidermis and its adnexa and intervisceral and subcutaneous fat.
