- Title
STRESS AMONG GENERAL PRACTITIONERS OF KWA-DUKUZA, KWA-ZULU NATAL.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines work-related stress among general practitioners (GPs) in Kwa-Dukuza and Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. A cross-sectional, descriptive survey was performed using self-administered, standardised questionnaire to determine the rate of work-related stress in GPs. Results show that 10 GPs experienced stress per the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and 22 GPs felt stress during their work. Moreover, the study findings indicate that the stress in GPs is slightly higher than in other studies due to several factors including external demands, internal needs and values, and personal coping resources.
