- Abstract
To study the in vitro antioxidant activity of the Forsythia suspense leaves flavonoids (FLF), the scavenging effect of FLF on hydroxyl radicals( ⋅ OH ) was studied by salicylic acid method, and self-oxidation inhibition was studied using the pyrogallol. The contents of MDA in 4 organs, and in mitochondria and microsome of liver were measured by TBA assay. The extent of erythrocatalysis and the swelling extent of mitochondria of liver were detected by spectrophotometric methods. The result showed that FLF had the ⋅ OH and O2 scavenging activity. It could inhibit the generation of MDA, the swelling of mitochondrla, and the hemolysis of red blood cells. The conclusion was drawn that FLF have the antioxidant activity.
