- Abstract
The article presents information related to the ongoing debate in Canada regarding the best way to provide and maintain transportation infrastructure. Usually, the debate centers around whether it is better to use markets and private entities to provide and maintain transportation infrastructure, or to have government be the sole provider of transportation infrastructure, paid for with tax revenues. Fuel tax-based funding of transportation is unfair, taxes on gasoline are broad based, taking money from people who never use certain roads, and subsidizing other people who do.
