- Abstract
The article offers the authors' insights on the safety of laparoscopic colectomy for octogenarians. They state that octogenarians as a patient group are a challenge to surgeons due to their greater incidence of morbidity and higher risk for complications and death. The authors also mention that even though clinical studies is easy to ratify the safety of laparoscopy among elderly patients, it is also easy not to identify benefits which exists with laparoscopic colectomy.
