- Abstract
Introduction: Among the mandibular fractures, the most common are mandibular condyle fractures. The therapeutic approach can be surgical or conservative (orthopedic). The main factors that determine the treatment decision are the level of the fracture and the degree of displacement. Material and method: We have chosen to present in this article two clinical cases for which the therapeutic approach was different. A case that benefited from conservative-orthopedic treatment, in which the displacement of the bone fragments was small and one with surgical treatment by open reduction of the fracture with internal fixation with plaques and osteosynthesis screws, because the displacement of the bone fragments was significant. Conclusions: An appropriate therapeutic approach, depending on the level of the fracture, the degree of displacement and the systemic condition of the patient, leads in both cases to healing and the restoration of the occlusal relations with the recovery of the functions of the dentomaxillary apparatus.
