- Abstract
Cervical cancer represents an important public health problem in developing countries, becoming in some regions the most common type in the female population. This study aimed to analyze the scientific production on the strategies used to prevent cervical cancer by nurses in primary care. It is an integrative review of literature, carried out from July 2018 to January 2019, through the LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF databases. The final sample consisted of 26 articles. After a thorough reading of the analyzed articles, these were classified by semantic similarity in 03 thematic categories: "Considerations about cervical cancer and its incidence", "Considerations about the difficulties encountered by the nurse practitioner in performing the cytopathological examination", "Strategies for prevention of cervical cancer: a focus on the performance of the nurse". It is concluded that nurses have a fundamental role in the informative, incentive, preventive and care process for women with cervical cancer, and it is necessary to show a good qualification and ethical care of the professionals. Therapeutic and educational actions should be offered for this purpose. good care due to the woman's fragility, loss of self-esteem and anxiety with diagnosis.
