- Abstract
The book "Information Hunters" by Kathy Peiss tells the story of information specialists during World War II. These specialists, including librarians, were deployed by the United States to gather information from abroad and primarily used books and magazines as open sources. The author describes the largest literature exploitation operation in history and critically addresses the confiscation and relocation of foreign literature from Europe to the United States. The book also sheds light on the role of women in this mission and the collaboration between American and British intelligence agencies. It discusses the challenges in evaluating the sources and the ethical questions surrounding the handling of the secured books.
